Gatlinburg Does It Again and Again!!
The old record holder for the largest ever Regional Bridge Tournament in
ACBL history is the new record holder for the largest ever Regional Bridge
Tournament in ACBL history, with an astounding total of 9,564.5 tables over the 6-1/2 day event.
The new record beats last year's record breaker count of 9,095.5 by 469
tables, a very nice 5.2% increase when many were forecasting
a much lower count.
There were 3,943 players from 49 states, the District of Columbia, 9 provinces
of Canada, 2 states of Mexico, Bermuda and from several non-ACBL affiliated
foreign countries. Only the state of Wyoming wasn't represented.
All twenty five ACBL districts were represented by the players who
played at least one session.
Masterpoints flowed, with a grand total of 72,482.39 being awarded to 3,819 players. There were 4 players who won two-hundred
points, 59 players who won one-hundred or more points and an amazing 315
players topped the fifty masterpoint level.
We crowned over fifty new life masters and there were many other players
who moved up one or more ranks during the week.
